The aim of the initial course is to train PPL(A) / CPL(A) / ATPL(A) holders to the level of proficiency necessary for the issue of a Flying Instructor (Aeroplanes) Rating for a UK or JAR Pilot’s Licence. The training requirement is in accordance with AMC FCL 1.340. The course comprises theoretical knowledge instruction and flight training. The flight training is a minimum of 30 hours of flight training of which 25 hours shall be dual flight instruction, the remaining 5 hours may be mutual flying (two applicants flying together to practice flight demonstrations). Of the 25 hours, 5 may be conducted in the FNPTII.The ground training consists of 125 hours of instruction and self study covering all the topics of the PPL ground training together with training on instructional techniques, student assessment etc.
